- A maximum of 4,000 turtles will be launched into Ellen Trout Lake at approximately 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 3, 2009.
- All turtles entered will be provided by Angelina Beautiful/Clean (hereafter "AB/C") and shall remain the property of AB/C. Once the turtles are launched, they are on their own. No attempt to free or interfere with any turtle is permitted unless deemed necessary by AB/C. The race will end 20 minutes after the first turtles has entered the turtle trap. Any turtle finishing after that time will be ineligible for any prize.
- A number will be attached to each turtle relating to the number on the adoption paper. Multiple turtle entries from one adoption paper will be assigned additional turtle identification numbers. The person listed on the adoption papers corresponding to the winning adopted turtles will be awarded prizes. A list of prizes and winners will be posted at www.amazingturtlerace.com.
- The entry portion of each adoption paper must be completely filled out and delivered to AB/C or an authorized representative of AB/C prior to the race; or entry can be mailed to AB/C’s address on the adoption paper and must be received by AB/C no later than 4:00pm on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008 for an entry to be eligible for prizes. Entrants assume the risk of non-delivery of any entries. If available, entries will be received on the day of the race up to an hour before the turtles are launched.
- Free entry tickets defeat the charitable fundraising purpose of the event. No purchase is necessary in order to win or enter. AB/C does request a donation of $5.00 per entry to benefit Angelina Beautiful/Clean. However, any person may, prior to September 4, 2008, request one free entry by presenting in person a written request at Angelina Beautiful/Clean offices, 1615 S. Chestnut, Lufkin, TX 75901 Monday through Friday between 9:00am and 4:00pm.
- Winners will be announced at the finish of the race and tabulation of the results. Entrants do not have to be present to win. Winners not present will be notified by U.S. Certified Mail or by telephone within seven days of the race. If a winner does not claim his/her prize within 30 days of the race date, AB/C will select an alternate winner through a random drawing of entry forms. All prizes will be awarded.
- No cash equivalent prizes will be provided in lieu of designated prizes. Any and all taxes and similar fees are the sole responsibility of the winner. By entering, entrants release AB/C and its officers, directors, and staff, and any other related entities from any and all liability with respect to prizes.
- By entering, winners consent to the promotional use of their names and likeness without compensation.
- Excess turtles may be launched into the race. If the first turtle to cross the finish line is an excess turtle, the Grand Prize will be awarded to the adoptive parents of the first adopted turtle to cross the finish line. The remaining prizes will be awarded in like manner.
- Chances of winning depend on the total number of qualified entries. This event is subject to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited by law.
- AB/C and race committee will make all decisions and interpretations of the rules and regulations and its judgments are final.
- In case of bad weather, technical difficulties or other acts of God, AB/C reserves the right to cancel or postpone the race upon announcement, or select winners by an alternative method. AB/C shall not be held liable in any way for any loss, damage, or inconvenience which may be caused by any such postponement or cancellation of the turtle race.
- Staff and Angelina Beautiful/Clean Board of Directors shall be ineligible for any prizes. In the event that the turtle belongs to an “ineligible” person, the prize will be awarded to the second place turtle and the ineligible person shall be awarded the second prize.
- By entering, entrants release Sponsors, Ellen Trout Zoo, Ellen Trout Lake, AB/C and their officers, directors, staff, and other related entities from any and all liability with respect to bodily injury or damage to property on the event site and surrounding parking areas, whether or not due to negligence of the Sponsors, Ellen Trout Zoo, Ellen Trout Lake, AB/C and their officers, directors, staff, and other related entities.
